Government Structure
Kagarko LGA is governed by an integrated leadership structure that combines modern democratic representation with a rich traditional system comprising four major chiefdoms.
Executive Arm
- Chairman: Hon. Muhuyideen Abdullahi Umar (Turaki Jnr)
- Vice Chairman: (Council Appointed)
- Secretary to the Local Government: Hon. Danjuma G. Akuso
- Supervisory Councilors & Special Advisors: Appointed members overseeing Health, Agriculture, and Education.
Legislative Arm
- Speaker of the Legislative Council: Elected from among the councilors.
- Members of the Council: 10 elected councilors representing the 10 political wards.

Emirate Council
Unlike many LGAs under a single emirate, Kagarko features a unique multi-chiefdom structure reflecting its diverse ethnic heritage.
Districts
- Koro Chiefdom: Headed by the Ere-Koro, HRM Yohanna Akidi.
- Kagarko Emirate: Headed by the Emir of Kagarko, HRH Malam Sa'ad Abubakar.
- Jere Emirate Council: Headed by the Emir of Jere, HRH Dr. Abdullahi Daniya.
- Dnata Chiefdom: Headed by the Esu Dnata, HRH Bitrus James.
Role of Traditional Leaders
The traditional rulers in Kagarko are the primary custodians of peace and culture. They work in harmony with the Local Government Chairman to resolve communal issues, manage land disputes, and promote the "Ginger Revolution" among local farmers.
